Short Biography Yvette Garcia “La Sole” born in Rota, grew up in Sanlúcar de Barrameda-Cadiz, Spain. Moved to California in 1985, returning several times each year to study flamenco and perform in different cities of Andalucia. Studied flamenco with master instructors from Spain including: Jose Antonio, Carmen Cortes, Ana Ma Buenos, Antonio Canales, Juan de Juan, Rafaela Carrasco, Belen Maya, Jairo Barrul, Yerbabuena & Juana Amaya to name a few. Performances in Spain include: Noches de Bajo-Guia, Teatro Municipal, Palacio de la Infanta and La Merced Auditorium in Sanlúcar. La Feria de Cadiz and “Andalucia Hoy” for Canal Sur Television, and various appearances in "Aires del Sur" hosted by Pepe Olivar for Telesanlucar and see world wide via satelite on "España en Directo" on TVE Internacional. Local California performances include: annual appearances on Univision Television, Ritmo Latino Music Awards, N.O.H.O Theater & Arts Festival, Santa Barbara “Old Spanish Days”, tablaos such as El Cid, Café Sevilla-Carlsbad, Spain Restaurant and Coppacabana. Sole, taught Flamenco and Belly Dance at Cal-Poly University (2002-2005)and in March 2002 opened her own Performing Arts Studio, the “International Arts Academy”, teaching flamenco & other world dances. In the year 2000 established a professional performance group “A Nuestro Aire” and a children’s dance company that performs throughout Southern California at various events and festivals including Ferias for La Peña Andaluza, Sociedad Flamenco Cultural, Casa De España, San Juan Capistrano Mission & various television appearances. “La Sole” served as community youth director & cultural adviser member of the Peña Andaluza a non-profit group that promotes the culture of Andalucia, Spain in California and is recognized by the government of Spain "La Junta de Andalucia". “La Sole” is also a sought after choreographer and flamenco singer in California. In December of 2005 La Sole moved back to her hometown of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where she currently teaches Flamenco, Middle Eastern Belly Dance, Pilates/Yoga, and English at a local school. She can be seen performing on weekends at the tabalo "Bodegon Sentido A Contratiempo", La Sole has also appear in Spain at the First Encuentro Internacional de Flamenco Summer 2006 at the Jardines del Palacio and as a finalist in the "Bulerias con Aje" contest, bringing home a beautiful plaque as a prize for "Best Overall Buleria".
