Press Release Blanco y Negro a flamenco dance theater work, presented by: International Arts Academy on June 4, 2005 at the Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center. Produced by: La Sole & Molina.
The performance will feature: Dancer/choreographer and artistic director from Sanlúcar, Spain Yvette Garcia
also known in the International flamenco dance scene as “La Sole”, one of Southern California’s top professional
flamenco dancers and instructors will star along with her dance company “A Nuestro Aire”, and a host of special
guest artists in "Blanco y Negro" ~ Obra Flamenca (a flamenco dance theater).
Musical / creative director Walter Molina on guitar, assistant choreographer Shari Bonnin, flute player Ruben
Rivas, soprano singer Heather Calvete, percussionist Johnny Sandoval along with a cellist and violinist.
This flamenco dance theater work is inspired by one of Picasso’s masterpieces from the blue period, and based
on an original concept and script written by Molina. Garcia along with “A Nuestro Aire" dance troupe will
perform choreographies that illustrate the deepest and darkest of human emotions, including the passion and
power that has been at the heart of flamenco dance for centuries. The story takes place in the early 1900's
and revolves around a man and his muse. It reveals his struggles with his own thoughts and emotions.
Haunting behavioral traits from his present and past affect with the way he reveals himself to others and how
they see him. The dances will be complimented with beautiful Edwardian era costumes along with dramatic lighting that will make this show an unforgettable event.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 4, 2005 “Blanco y Negro” at the Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center
located at 4640 N. Maine Ave. Baldwin Park. Matinee show at 3:00 pm. as well as an evening performance
at 8:00 pm. 1 hour prior to each show in the lobby of there will be a traditional Spanish Tapas hour.
The highlight will be the Paella cooked on location.

Garcia was born and grew up in Sanlucar de Barrameda, Cadiz, Spain, and now lives in Glendora, California,
and teaches in Covina and at Cal-Poly Pomona University. Garcia has been performing since age 13. She has
studied with internationally known dancers and flamenco masters. She is a member of various dance companies
including Groupo Flamenco de la Peña Andaluza in California, and "Ballet Sanlucar Hoy", directed by
Jose Antonio Benitez (tour group based in Sanlúcar, Spain). She is currently the director/choreographer
of her own company “A Nuestro Aire” and the International Arts Academy Children’s ensemble. She
currently appears regularly at Spain Restaurant in Los Angeles and Sebastiani’s of Huntington Beach
on alternating Saturday’s. Her studio International Arts Academy is located at 20628 E. Arrow Highway #3
